Currently, we have adopted a traditional school calendar with the help of our District Site-Based Team that starts on August 19, 2020 and finishes on May 27, 2021. In the event that there were school closures next year, our plan would be to deliver virtual instruction (similar to what we are doing now) during the closure. In other words, we would be able to switch from face-to-face instruction to virtual instruction immediately (Attachment A). Due to the loss of face-to-face learning time during the last 9-weeks, and the possibility of more school closures next year, TEA has promoted an inter-sessional COVID-19 response calendar. The sample calendar for this format would start August 3rd and run through June 23rd. There would be regular Holidays in the calendar along with 2-weeks for Thanksgiving, 4-weeks for Christmas Break, and 3-weeks for Spring Break. In the event that school was closed, days or weeks would be removed from the extended holidays in order to complete school on June 23rd. In this model, virtual instruction would not take place while students were out of school (Attachment B).
