Register NOW to audition for Central Coast Children's & Youth Choir, and the chance to perform in Opera Australia's Barber of Seville at The Arthouse Wyong on Saturday 27 August 2022!

Monday 5pm - 6:30pm during school terms

We have several performance projects lined up including opera, classical, contemporary and musical theatre performance projects in 2022.

Students will learn the basics of reading music, beginner's vocal techniques, including how to warm up their voices safely, how to sing beautifully together, how to sing with a conductor and a crash course in the beauty of the Italian language.

Along with performance skills; drama basics, understanding stage directions, and learning fun choreographed movements which will enable the students to present with confidence on stage.
 
Audition dates:
Monday 2 May 2022 & Wednesday 4 May 2022

Rehearsals start Monday 9th May, 2022.

We have several performance projects lined up over 2022 including opera, classical, contemporary and musical theatre performance projects.

One of our biggest projects is performing in the Regional Tour of Opera Australia "Barber of Seville".

The age limit for the Opera Australia Project is limited to the following:
9-14. The children must have turned 9 prior to the performance day . They cannot yet have turned 15 on performance day. Age limits will be strictly enforced for the Opera Australia project.

For those students interested in joining our choir who are not in the age range for the OA project - we encourage you to still apply and participate in the other performance projects lined up including opera, classical, contemporary and musical theatre performance projects.  

So please consider joining us even if not within the age range to do the Opera Australia project.

COST PER TERM:
CCCM Current students (participating in 1:1's, or ensemble lessons additional to choir); $75 per term
Non CCCM students: $100 per term

EXPERIENCE: Preference for experience in a choir, vocal ensemble, school musical, community musical  or played in a school band.

AUDITION INFORMATION: Children to prepare a song they enjoy singing and that shows their current level of ability. 2-3 minutes maximum length - it can be shorter.

This can be unaccompanied, or they may use a backing track.

Appropriate examples of songs that will allow the Artistic Director to hear pitch, rhythm and tone: Happy Birthday, Waltzing Matilda, the National Anthem, This little light of mine

It doesn’t have to be complex in order for the Artistic Director to assess what he needs to hear.  

If using a backing track please bring the device loaded and ready to play.
 
We want your child to enjoy this experience so you can trust that we will do everything we can to make this a positive experience.  

We will have the students do some vocal and projection exercises, follow some simple stage directions and then have them sing.

Auditions will take approximately 10 minutes.

Students will be notified of the result of their audition by Thursday 5 May 2022

The group photo for the Opera Australia Program will be taken on Friday 6 May at 4:00pm. Location within Gosford to be confirmed  - please confirm your availability.

Auditions will be held at Gosford Presbyterian Church. 14 Young Street, West Gosford.
