Tacoma Healing Awareness Community (THAC) and Truth Teller Consulting (TTC) are co-presenting a Know Your Rights (KYR) workshop, and a People's Movement Assembly (PMA), where we will honor and celebrate Black and Brown grassroots community leaders from the Eastside. This is a space/event that is working to dismantle racism and systematic oppression. We are an anti-racist group of community members connecting together to make a positive difference in our communities.

Join us for Workshops, Music, Food and helps us to honor and celebrate Black, Brown and Indigenous grassroots leaders from the Eastside, and more!

Things you should know:

The Khmer Theravadin Buddhist Temple welcomes all people. This space is open to all and is intended to bring community members from all social, economic, and religious backgrounds together in the same space.

There is a bathroom onsite.

The Event will be held outside.

Workshops will be held in spaces with overhead covering.

There is ample parking on site. We will have traffic controllers to point you in the right place.

The event will feature a variety of activities throughout the day including music, artists, and activities.

Vendors/Entertainers/Workshop Facilitators can set-up beginning at 8:30 AM.
Please be set up no later than 9:30 AM
Program officially begins at 10.
Lunch will be served at noon.
The event officially ends at 2 PM.
Please be off of the premises by 3 PM.

Overview:
An Invitation to the Community. Tacoma Healing Awareness Community and Truth Teller Consulting is inviting community members to participate in Know Your Rights Workshops as well as Celebrate and Embrace Local Grassroots Leaders and the work that they do to keep this community safe.  

Intention:
Celebrate Eastside Grassroots Leaders
Recognize the strength and creativity of our community, including different cultures and races
Know Your Rights workshops are being offered for educational purposes and support of community members
Center Youth, Black, Brown and Indigenous communities
Lead with racial equity - provide opportunities and recognition of local BIPOC Leaders of the Eastside Tacoma

Target Audience:
People who reside or do community work on the Eastside of Tacoma. Organizations and groups that support grassroots leaders. Community organizers and folx that are doing the work of undoing the negative impacts of institutional racism on oppressed and marginalized communities.
