The folks of The Secrets of the Trees, a dance and circus show critiquing capitalism told through trees, are seeking a second dance or theater production with an environmental message to join us for 8 performances at Dance Mission Theater (
https://dancemissiontheater.org/) in early March. We had planned to work with another project, but that group has had to back out so now we have space for a new artist or group!
We are looking for new shows or shows in development that run approximately 20-45 minutes. Our hope is to create an evening of thematically cohesive, emotionally moving, politically and environmentally engaged art.
While we are open to supporting more than one show if an artist or group of artists are only available for some dates or have shorter run times, we are also excited to share as much of our stage with the right project as possible. We also want to do as much as we can to lift up indigenous voices and voices of color and encourage artists who identify with these groups to apply.
The deposit for the space has been paid and collaborating artists will not be asked to pay any money toward facility rental, but we hope that selected artists will work with us in continuing to fundraise toward getting all rental fees covered as we are still short of our goal. (Our fundraising page:
https://www.freefunder.com/campaign/secrets-of-the-treesunearth). While it is our hope and goal that we will be able to pay artists, we will first put money from ticket sales to covering costs - all the more reason we'd love your help in fundraising ahead of time! In addition we plan to donate a portion of proceeds to local environmental and indigenous groups if possible.
Show dates are:
Friday March 6, 8pm
Saturday March 7, 8pm
Sunday March 8, 4pm and 8pm
Thursday March 12, 8pm
Friday March 13, 8pm
Saturday March 14, 8pm
