Rowing Parent Volunteers - Season 2022/23
As a rowing parent there are many ways that you can assist the Rowing Program.

The sport of rowing at school requires the assistance of both the school and the families of the rowers to ensure a successful and positive experience for our kids.

When kids first start to row, it's fun and new and is very enjoyable.  As they grow and progress, the sport and its increasing commitments become more demanding but at the same time, even more rewarding for each child, as they learn to become responsible, resilient and upstanding and outstanding experienced competitors.  The sport of rowing teaches the importance and the privilege of winning and losing and the sport is often attributed to creating an extraordinary experience and outcome for all rowers who continue throughout their senior schooling. The rewards are often profound, and while the journey can be tough, the experience and the learning along the way, creates someone outstanding!

As a parent, supporting the Pennefather Club is remarkably rewarding.  Your own expertise and talents are gratefully appreciated.

Please note:  Roles and responsibilities evolve throughout each season and you will always be supported by experienced rowing parents.  It is therefore absolutely essential that we warmly welcome new rowing parents each year.  We do hope you join us - you'll have a blast!

I would like to volunteer as a BRO (Boat Race Official) *
At every regatta, each School and Club that competes is required to volunteer a minimum of 2 Boat Racing Officials to help oversee the day's event.  These Boat Racing Officials, or BROs, are always parents at each School or club.  Like all Schools, we will create a roster of our Caulfield BROs.  Being a BRO is fun!  You are sometimes positioned on the start line; monitor the racing at certain points along the course, time some of the races and sometimes you get to travel in the motor boats that follow the rowers as they race, and if you have a boat license and very lucky, you may also drive the boat following the rowers!  Being a BRO is usually about an hour or 2 at a regatta. And you will probably only be a BRO at one or two regattas, if it is shared amongst a good number of parents.  You will also only be rostered at a regatta where your child is racing.  Training is online and is about 2 hours.  We aim to share this responsibility with all parents, so would like at least 1 parent per rower to volunteer as a CGS BRO!  The more BROs we have, the more flexibility throughout the season.
I have a boat license! *

Thank you for completing this form.  Volunteering doesn't require you to attend any meetings, although some initiatives may require you as a sub-committee to meet to discuss plans for executing an event or regatta. Either way, your inclusion and participation is very much welcomed, and your rower will love you being involved!

It's going to be a great season!  Go 'Fields!
