The Neighborhood Tree Steward (NTS) program trains participants to care for our community trees. The program is three days, and is full of hands-on and interactive learning experiences. Stewards learn about Portland's urban forest, proper tree planting, tree regulations, and how our community’s trees are providing services that are necessary to the well-being of all Portlanders.
Participants gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence to be stewards of Portland’s urban forest. Stewards put their new skills to use planting trees, organizing, advocating, and greening their neighborhoods. Stewards commit to volunteering 40 hours in their neighborhood after graduation.
