The University of Dubuque Theological Seminary is pleased to welcome Dr. Allen Hilton for our 2023 August Warren Lecture Series. 

Jesus told striking stories about sowers and crops; so it’s apt that the word “seminary" stems from a Latin for “seed.” The theological school is a place where seeds are planted and grow. The start of our 2023-24 Dubuque Seminary year is a great time to ask, “What seeds are we planting? And how’s growth going?” We’ve invited Rev. Dr. Allen R. Hilton, a speaker, facilitator, consultant, and friend of UDTS, to pose these questions and help us wonder together at what God might be up to among us. He will focus especially on the role and mission of seminary and church in a polarized land.

Dr. Hilton is the author of “House United: How the Church Can Save the World.” He’s the Founder and Executive Director of House United, a movement dedicated to “bringing people together across difference for the common good." He knows the mission of the theological academy well, having served as a professor of New Testament at Yale Divinity School and then on pastoral teams in large churches across the U.S.
