One Root One Communi-Tree 2024 Phase 1!                 24 January - 24 May

As we welcome the new year, with the hope and renewed spirit to make a positive change, we at EEG are once again rolling out our most prominent recycling project “One Root, One Communi-tree”. It is with great delight that we are launching the 15th cycle of this project. Phase 1 will be held from 24th January to 24th May 2024.

While the year 2023 was knows as the “Year of Sustainability”, we believe that every year, we must push forwards and reach greater milestones in actions that contribute to sustainability. For this, all sectors of society must work cohesively to achieve the goals.  This unified approach is the prime goal of EEG’s OROC project. In the year 2023, 853 entities participated in this project. They collectively deposited 671,699 kg of Paper, 105,537 kg of Plastic, 5,906 kg of Aluminium Cans, 2,708 pcs of Mobile Phones, 4,848 pcs of Toners, 112,478 kg of Glass Bottles and 16,934 kg of E-Waste.

This project aims to mobilise the community towards proactive environmental action and promote the expansion of green urban spaces through planting of indigenous trees, in line with the national and international goals of afforestation. EEG also aims to instil environmentally conscious habits within the UAE community and encourage them to embark upon a greener, more sustainable future.

With the combined efforts, the participants planted a total of 1,671 indegenous trees on 23.12.23 at pristine Al Naseem Reserve in Al Manama, Ajman. This urban afforestation programme plays a pivotal role in increasing the local biodiversity and supporting the local ecosystems.

Participants who are committed towards achieving the set targets within the time period allocated will be eligible for a Certificate of Participation and also will be provided an opportunity to plant a Native Tree sapling under their name in one of the public areas in the UAE on 24.12.24. The number of trees that participants are eligible to plant will be proportionate with the number of times the targets have been achieved in each category.
