Only p
arents/guardians or other authorized persons listed in SMARTtag will be allowed to receive your student(s).
For your child's safety, all authorized persons picking up Pre-K through 1st grade students at the bus stop must have a government issued photo identification card with them. Authorized persons should be prepared to present his/her photo identification card to the bus driver upon request, before the student(s) will be released.
Authorized older siblings may receive your Pre-K through 1st grade student(s) from the bus stop if they are on the authorized list in SMARTtag. No identification card is required if the older sibling student rides the same bus.
If an authorized person is not present at the bus stop at the scheduled time in the afternoon:
- The driver will radio the dispatcher and continue dropping off students in the neighborhood.
- In the meantime, the dispatcher will attempt to contact the parent/guardian.
- The driver will make a second attempt to drop you student off at the designated bus stop.
- If after the second attempt there is no one to receive your student, the driver will continue on route to their next school.
- If no contact is made with the parent, the student will be taken to the nearest Transportation Terminal, where a determination will be made by the Director or Assistant Directors as to what process needs to be followed at that time to ensure the safety of the child.
If an authorized person is repeatedly late or not at the bus stop to receive the student(s), the student(s) may be suspended from bus service.
