Diversity Problem in the AEC Industry
This form is to collect information from members of the global AEC Industry in order to get a better understanding of the existing diversity that exists, where it's lacking, and common issues throughout the sectors. It is not scientific but is instead being used to start the dialog for a roundtable discussion being held at the annual Autodesk University conference this November (date/time TBD to be announced end of October).

What you need to know:
- It should take 10-15 minutes to complete the survey
- All of the questions are optional but the more information you can provide, the better data we can collect
- You can opt to fill this in entirely anonymously. If you do choose to share your personal information in this survey, it will not be shared outwardly. The data will be aggregated and presented in an anonymous fashion.

I am looking for data from anyone who works in the AEC industry and how you interpret that. I'm leaving it open because the definition of "AEC" has grown and evolved in recent years and I want to get a better sense of the community as a whole.

My name is Purvi Gandhi Irwin and you can contact me at purvi.irwin@caddmicrosystems.com with any questions. At the end of the survey, you have the option of providing your name and contact information. The only purpose of this voluntary information is if you would like me to send you the results of this survey or if it's alright for me to contact you with questions that I might have about your responses.

(UPDATE 2 - 11/24/2020) If you would like information on the roundtable and the survey results up to October 18th, please visit my website https://sites.google.com/view/aecdiversityproblem/ This survey is still accepting responses and they will be used to continue to move the conversation and movement forward. Thank you!

Session Abstract
In the USA, the AEC industry has historically had issues with diversity in every sense of the word. Why is this? What can be done to be more inclusive and welcoming to all people? In this roundtable, we will build upon topics discussed in last year’s Women in BIM panel to continue to identify some root causes of this disparity and discuss strategies that we can all use to both advocate for ourselves and others.

Discussion topics may include:
What groups are historically underrepresented in the AEC industry and why?
What strategies have worked for you to get you where you are?
Have others helped you get to where you are and if yes, in what ways?
What are ways to get out of our comfort zone?
Where can we find support in our communities?
What strategies can we start employee NOW to be more inclusive in our hiring practices, to shift our collective paradigm?
How can we actively encourage and nurture the next generation to pursue careers in the AEC industry?
