Application Details

To be eligible for this program, you must (1) be a U.S. citizen, U.S. National, or permanent resident, (2) not be graduating with a BA or BS prior to summer 2024, (3) be a full-time student at a college or university, (4) be available from June 10 - August 10, 2024, and (5) be prepared to live in Bellingham, Washington and Rwanda for the duration of the program.

To be considered, your application must be complete and include all of the following materials:

(1) Completed application form (below)
(2) Two letters of reference - one must be from academic faculty (see instructions below)
(3) Unofficial transcript
(4) Personal statements (see instructions below)

All portions of your application should be received on or before December 31, 2023.

What is the biggest challenge you have faced in your life, and what did you learn from it? (800 words maximum) 2.) How will participation in this program contribute to your current and future academic and career goals? (1500 words maximum)

Letters of Reference: Please have two letters of references (one must be from an academic faculty member) sent to Professor Seth Feinberg and Professor Hilary Schwandt via email to reurwanda@wwu.edu with the subject line “Your Last Name, REU Reference Letter” by December 31, 2023.
