Data Subcommittee Interest Form
Texas Homeless Network (THN) encourages agencies and communities to use their data to leverage changes, both large and small, in how their homeless crisis response systems operate. In order to be useful, data needs to be as accurate and complete as possible. THN wants to work hand in hand with community members to establish expectations around data collection, use, and upkeep. In order to do this, THN has established a Data Committee and several subcommittees based on project type to focus specifically on Texas Balance of State HMIS (Homeless Management Information System) data.

The purpose of the THN Data Committee and the Data Subcommittees is to provide data-driven insight and education to multiple groups/stakeholders about homelessness in the Texas Balance of State. The THN Data Committees would also be a way of providing feedback from HMIS end users on specific data matters such as HMIS Policies and Procedures, the HMIS Data Quality and Management Plan, data security, Point In Time Count information, and the TX BoS HMIS implementation.

Members of the data subcommittees may come from federally funded or non federally funded agencies. Each data subcommittee will have between 5-10 members. In order to ensure diversity of geography, project type, and funding source, THN will determine the final composition of each subcommittee.

Conflict of Interest
If you think you have a conflict of interest, please take the time to download and fill out the Conflict of Interest form below. Submit the Conflict of Interest form to data@thn.org.

As a potential example, if someone works at a CoC Program-funded project, and the Data Committee is voting on whether or not to charge user license fees to CoC Program-funded projects, that person would have a conflict of interest because their working at a CoC Program-funded project might influence their vote in a way that could benefit them or their agency financially. It would be important for that conflict to be known ahead of time--at least by the staff support person and the committee chair--so that the member will recuse themselves from any discussion and vote on that topic.
