The mission of the San Pablo Youth Commission (SPYC) is to advocate for community concerns through empowering youth to become leaders in their community. With youth voice and representation in city government, we aim to achieve sustainable change in our community. Coming together from our different ethnicities, ages, and schools, we are one.
The purpose of the San Pablo Youth Commission (SPYC) is to act as a liaison between the San Pablo youth community and the City Council, to advise the City Council on youth-related issues, and to promote civic engagement among youth in San Pablo by:
• Service Learning by participating in volunteer opportunities
• Professional Networking creating alliances with other community-based organizations
• Youth Leadership opportunities through convening community events and activities that
encourage youth voice
• Community Engagement by connecting youth to community issues

TO APPLY
Applications are accepted year-round, although appoints by City Council occur bi-annually. You do not need to be an appointed member to participate in the SPYC. The best thing to do is to attend a meeting, meet the group, and decide if you would like to commit. If you do choose to become an appointed member, the Commission will conduct and interview and recommend you for Council. Becoming an appointed member will allow you to vote during meetings, allow you to use the SPYC as a reference on applications, allow priority access to the San Pablo Summer Intern Program, and you will be recognized by Council. If you have any questions, please contact Staff Liaison Victor Jimenez at (510) 215-3097 or VictorJ@SanPabloCA.gov Thank you!
