UK Community Renewal Fund Localities Initiative - project proposals

The UK Community Renewal Fund – Localities Initiative is seeking to support the delivery of projects that build local development capacity in communities across Powys. It is a short term funding intervention that aims to do preliminary investigative work or prepare the ground for future interventions. Funding is available for ‘revenue’ expenses only and could include small capital equipment up to £1,000 per item.

The types of project that the initiative can support might include (but are not limited to):

The potential for new community led health and well-being or other initiatives delivered via social enterprise / cooperative models;
The role of community buildings as hubs supporting the delivery of local services / non statutory education programmes / micro-enterprise co-working, and as venues for cultural expression;
Maximising the potential of digital technology within communities, primarily through take-up of technology and its application to innovative projects that add value to community life and capture economic benefit;
The planning of local initiatives that contribute towards transition to a low carbon economy
the potential for retrofit schemes,
community growing / woodlands,
recycling and re-use in a local circular economy,
low carbon transport opportunities (such as E bikes and EV car clubs and charge point infrastructure) in support of work and recreational patterns of travel;
Cultural and Tourism development that contributes to 'sense of place' and the local tourism offer, entertainment opportunities, youth clubs, etc.
Development structures - the delivery mechanisms required to coordinate delivery on the aspirations of the localities into the future.

This form is not a grant application; it simply seeks to collect information on project proposals across the 13 locality networks that have been set up across Powys to facilitate the development of ideas that deliver social value. All project proposals will be subject to further discussion and prioritisation for support within each locality network.

For more information on the locality network in your area, please visit: https://www.pavo.org.uk/help-for-organisations/locality-network-project.html

Projects must be able to demonstrate engagement and support across the wider community – either through discussion within locality networks or through evidence of local consultation

Projects that demonstrate collaboration between organisations in or across localities are particularly welcomed.

Projects supported by the Initiative must be fully completed and all money spent by the 31st October 2022
