HawkFest: HVA's 1st Annual Student Film Festival: Guidelines and Application for Student Film Submission
Thank you for your interest in submitting your film to HawkFest!  Please read the following information carefully for all information regarding the entry of your film to be reviewed and potentially selected to be premiered at the upcoming film festival on Friday, April 3, 2020.  

Deadline: student films will be accepted until December 13, 2019.

Eligibility: filmmaker(s) MUST be a HVA student(s).

How To Enter: plan and create your film, read this info, fill out the form below, provide a youtube link to your film.

Personal Information: you will be required to provide your first name and last name as well as an email address that you check regularly in order for the committee to contact you regarding the status of your film.

Rules for Entry: Films must be the original work of the entrant and must have been made within the past 12 months.  Films must be between 1 minute - 10 minutes in length and can depict any story/subject matter in a fictional or factual manner.  All content must be depicted in a school appropriate manner and it is at the discretion of the viewing committee to determine what is/is not school appropriate.  Any entry that contains any outside material or elements (music, sound effects, imagery, etc.) that are copyrighted/not owned by the filmmaker(s); it is the responsibility of the filmmaker(s) to cite their outside sources in the ending credits.  All films must contain opening credits with the name of the film and the name of the filmmaker(s); films must also include closing credits that contain the names of any actors, any outside materials used, anything else that is pertinent to the creation of the film (names of locations, assistants, etc.).

Viewing and Selection Notification: a committee of film experts will pre-screen, objectively evaluate, and select the films to be premiered at the HawkFest Student Short Film Festival on Friday, April 3, 2020.  You will be notified by March 23, 2020 if your film has been selected to be premiered.  If your film is selected, you will be asked to provide a downloadable file of your film so that it can be sequenced to play at the festival.  

Awards and Prizes:  The Jury Award (best film chosen by the film viewing committee) and The People's Choice (best film chosen by the audience at the film festival).  Prizes TBD.
