The Music Den is available to all TMU students, who wish to develop their entrepreneurial side and gain access and knowledge about the music and entertainment industry.
The Music Den develops economic, artistic and social opportunities for innovators in music, offering access to educational workshops, coworking space, studios and equipment, showcase opportunities, and a unique network of students, entrepreneurs and industry professionals.
The Music Den is housed within the Transmedia Zone, Toronto’s leading incubator for innovative independent creators, integrated directly with the Professional Music program and supported by an advisory board of industry professionals.

Q: What's the Difference Between Being a Music Den Member and Being Part of the Music Den Backstage Pass?
A: To become an official member of Music Den, applicants have to have a project or startup ready to be taken on full time. They go through a pretty thorough application process, a pitch presentation, in front of our Innovation Studio Jury, and it's quite competitive, as we only take around 6-8 projects/companies every year. They also get bi-weekly strategic advice and a bespoke road map for their journey. There's also membership fees, with an option to rent a hot desk monthly.
Q: Okay, so what's the Music Den Backstage Pass?
A: MDBP allows you to begin your industry mindset, today! You can join the community, without yet having an idea for a project OR just having a very early stage idea. It allows you to take the ideas, and craft you're learning at school - and apply it to what interests YOU to grow your creativity and business mindset.
What you Can Expect From Us:
- Access to select Music Den member events
- Monthly open hours with Music Den and Transmedia Zone leadership and strategic advisors, as well as our industry startups.
- You'll get a first look on job and volunteer postings from our network of startups, projects, mentors and members.

Q: I'm a member of the TZ Student League - can I be a member of both that AND the Music Den Backstage Pass? What's the difference?
A: TZ Student League serves the entire entertainment landscape - while Music Den Backstage pass focuses on the music industry alone. Both help feed your inner entertainment entrepreneur.
