Project Investigator: Emily Stavljanin
The below is some general information on the study. This survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. All answers are completely anonymous.
Please do not research the questions before completing this survey. This survey aims to understand your objective knowledge.
The purpose of the study:
The current research project is focused on understanding the effect on trust in partisan media and political leaning. This is an important question because there is much debate around how both traditional media and social media effect our opinions, beliefs and the way in which we vote. We are seeking your help with piloting the survey we have developed to address this topic. Your feedback is an important part of the research process as it provides us with insights about what aspects of the survey work and whether any aspects need improvement.
Participation and withdrawal:
Participation in this research project is completely voluntary and you are free to withdraw from the study at any time with no consequences. If you do withdraw from the study, the materials that you have completed to that point will be deleted and will not be included in the study.
What is involved?
You will be asked to complete an online survey that should take approximately 10 minutes to complete and provide feedback about the survey.
Risks:
Participation in this research involves no foreseeable risks above the risks of everyday living. If, however, you should find any aspect of the research to be invasive or offensive, you are free to omit participating in that aspect of the study.
Confidentiality and security of data:
Confidential information gathered during the study will not be shared with anyone except the researchers. All data will be coded in a de-identified manner and subsequently analysed and reported in such a way that responses will not be able to be linked to any individual. Your responses will only be used for the specific research purposes of this study.
Benefits of your participation in the study:
You will not receive any compensation for taking part in the research, however, your participation is critical to helping with an assignment about how to conduct a survey research project which is part of COMU2030 (Communication Research Methods).
Ethics clearance and contacts:
This study has been approved by a teacher in the COMU2030 course at the University of Queensland to align with the Australian Health and Research Ethics Committee as complying with the National Statement. If you would like to contact an officer of the University not involved in the study, please email the course coordinator: Associate Professor Kelly Fielding (
