Thank you for your interest in requesting a school assignment transfer for your child.
Our elementary schools provide the building blocks to a great educational experience here at SASD. To help provide equitable opportunities for all of our young learners and balance the enrollment at each of the schools over time, your student is assigned an elementary school based on the District’s school attendance boundaries dependent on where you and your student reside.
We understand that families may have reasons to request that their child(ren) attend a school outside of their designated school boundary. The School Assignment Transfer process provides an opportunity for students to attend a SASD school that is outside of their regular SASD attendance boundaries.
Applications for the next school year are accepted beginning January 1st of the current school year, with second round applications available April 1st. You can find more information on our website.
If the School Assignment Transfer is granted, parents must:
- Assume the responsibility for transportation of the student(s) - bus transportation will not be available to students attending a school outside of their attendance boundaries.
- Acknowledge and accept that the District may revoke a student's approved school assignment transfer due to habitual truancy or nonadherence to the Student Code of Classroom Conduct.
- Acknowledge and accept that the district reserves the right to annually reevaluate school assignment transfer requests.
Parents will be notified of the approval/denial of the request in writing.
