Dear Parents/Caregivers

Your child has expressed an interest in representing the school in the Netball North Harbour Intermediate Year 7 Competition for 2021.

Details are as follows:

COMPETITION COMMENCEMENT DATE -  Tuesday 11th May 2021 (4 weeks of grading followed by 11 weeks of competition) Finals night Tuesday 31st August 2021

VENUE - Barfoot and Thompson Netball Centre, 44 Northcote Road, Takapuna

COMPETITION PLAYING DAY AND TIME - Tuesday with games played anywhere between 4pm and 7.30pm

REQUIRED UNIFORM -  AJHS Netball Dress (purchased from AJHS uniform shop $85.00) Black or navy sports brief. (No shorts to be worn under netball dress). All students must wear sports shoes. (No school shoes are allowed)

TRAINING - Teams will have a minimum of one training per week, which will be held on the school netball courts either before or after school. Training days and times will be advised once teams and coaches confirmed. Trainings will start in term 1 at the completion of trials and squad trainings.

TRIALS - Year 7 Trials - Tuesday 2nd of March 2021
The trials are held on the school netball courts during the school day from 9am until approximately 1.30pm.
All students trialing must wear PE gear and netball/sports footwear. At the completion of trials students will be placed in squads which they will train in for at least 2 sessions before teams are named.

TRANSPORT - It is the responsibility of parent/caregivers to either transport their child to the games and trainings each week or to arrange for another parent/caregiver to transport them. The school does not provide transport for this competition.

REGISTRATION FEE - $140.00 per player for the season.  

COMPULSORY ADMINISTRATION FEE - $25.00 (One payment of $25 will be charged regardless of the number of sports played)

UMPIRE FEE: Each team is required to pay $10.00 each week to cover the cost of umpires, this is not included in the registration fee and will be collected by Team Managers at the start of the season. (Depending on team numbers it will be around $25 per player for the season)

For this length of time and at this level of competition each school team requires a coach and a manager.
As a coach you will be required to take a minimum of one training per week and also be available at the games. For team training's the school's outdoor netball courts would be available for use before or after school. Standard training times are either 7.30am to 8.30am in the morning or 3.30pm to 4.30pm after school.
Managers are required to organise the team, ensuring all players and parents/caregivers are aware of game times and trainings, collect umpire money and ensure umpire is paid each week and also arranging for a person to do scorecard duty at each game. Ideally the Manager will also attend games to support the team and the coach.
Without parent volunteers it is impossible for teams to participate in the competition so if you are available to assist with either role please tick the appropriate box on the form.

To ensure your child is registered for the year 7 netball competition, please complete the following form and submit by Friday 26th February 2021. Please also ensure that the registration fee of $140.00 plus $25 Administration Fee is paid by Friday the 26th of February 2021.
