As a fifth and sixth grader, students have a choice for which music class they would like to participate in during the following year. Below are descriptions that explain the different music classes students may sign up for.

What music class will you be signing up for next year? *

BAND - This class focuses on developing individual and group skills such as confidence, teamwork, and resilience through playing band instruments. Students will work on instrumental-specific technique, note and rhythm reading, musicianship, aural skills, and performance analysis. Students will perform at least one public performance each quarter.

CHOIR - Choir primarily focuses on developing and strengthening the singing voice. We work on vocal technique, increasing vocal range, singing in two or three part harmony, memory skills, music reading, sight singing, teamwork, and building confidence through singing. This is a performance class with at least one public performance each quarter.

MUSIC APPRECIATION - This class will focus on the development of overall music skills through lecture, note taking, in class performance, and written exams. Students are expected to complete regular out of class assignments. This class will be a non-performance class.

ORCHESTRA - This class focuses on developing individual and group skills such as confidence, teamwork, and resilience through playing orchestra instruments. Students will work on instrumental-specific technique, note and rhythm reading, musicianship, aural skills, and performance analysis. Students will perform at least one public performance each quarter.
