2022 SSML scholarship - STUDENTS
Each year, SSML awards travel scholarships to students who would like to attend the conference, named in memory of a long-time member, the late Joseph Wydeven. SSML members are committed to supporting the work of young scholars and writers. This includes offering a Mentoring Cafe on Friday evening, and awarding a prize of $1,000 for the best student writing presented at the conference.
SCHOLARSHIPS INCLUDE . . .
1) An amount (based on the distance you have to travel) to subsidize travel costs, hotel, etc.
2) A ticket to the Awards Banquet on Friday, at which the Mark Twain and MidAmerica awards are presented (Gerald Vizenor is the recipient of the 2022 Mark Twain Award, and Arnold Rampersad is the recipient of the 2022 MidAmerica Award)
3) A year's membership in the Society, which includes subscriptions to the Society's two peer-reviewed journals, MidAmerica and Midwestern Miscellany.
SCHOLARSHIPS DO NOT INCLUDE . . .
Conference registration fee of $40, which must be paid in advance of arriving at the conference.
