Health and Safety Notice

We all know that there are many variables in our world right now. Right now, Oregon has dropped their indoor mask mandate but case numbers can shift quickly.

Because so many people are planning to fly/drive in from elsewhere with elsewhere's case numbers, I am asking attendees to BE READY TO wear masks for the full hour and a half (90 minutes) to two hours (120 minutes) of the ceremony and to provide proof of vaccination and negative tests (nasal swab or PCR test) before attending. There will be areas with ventilation and open windows that you can move to for a mask break or to drink beverages.

I want everyone who attends to be able to relax into a feeling of safety to speak and sing, and I think strong boundaries and logistics will let people do that.

Know that it is 100% guaranteed that a Remote Broadcast Celebration of Life is going to happen, so if you are not comfortable with wearing a mask for 90-120 minutes, you can attend remotely.

The World Forestry Center (near the Oregon Zoo, near the Hoyt Arboretum) in Washington Park has both a freeway with a dedicated exit as well as a MAX light rail stop. There will be parking which requires payment (reasonable prices, can pay using app Parking Kitty https://parkingkitty.com/ and a MAX ticket and parking costs pretty much the same.

Washington Park MAX Station and Parking Lot A, B and C are all an easy walk with ramps and sidewalks to Cheatham Hall.

I need help or guidance with finding a hotel/place to stay, and/or guidance with restaurants and grocery stores. Note: There is no food offered during the ceremony, so please eat beforehand or bring a snack. *

Portland has a vibrant restaurant scene and has preserved a lot of the outdoor seating used during the pandemic. Use Yelp or Google Maps or etc. to find some tasty food. There's lots!
