Abstract:
The Vyākhyāyukti 释轨论, as its name implies, is a treatise on the methodology (yukti, 轨) of sutra interpretation (exegesis, vyākhyā, 释), written by the Indian Buddhist treatise master Vasubandhu世亲. Although it occupies an important position in the history of Indian Buddhism, there is still no complete translation of the work due to the limitation that it is only available in Tibetan translation. This presentation will review the contents of the treatise, introduce the latest previous studies, and review the methodology of sutra interpretation found in the treatise.
