Teaching Interest Form
Thank you for your interest in TREC! Transformation and Reentry through Education and Community (TREC) is a partnership between the University of Minnesota, Metropolitan State University, and Minneapolis College focused on offering degree programs for students who are currently incarcerated.

At this time, the University of Minnesota is focused on on making the following contributions to the larger TREC Partnership:

1) Recruiting and supporting our faculty, instructors, postdocs, and graduate students to teach in-person courses through Metropolitan State and Minneapolis College for degree-seeking students at MCF-Stillwater and MCF-Lino Lakes.

2) Identifying members of our broader University community who are interested in volunteering their time to support our TREC students by participating in in-person extra-curricular programming, mentoring, tutoring (especially writing or math), or other academic support services.

If you are interested in Option 1 (Teaching), please use this form to share more information with us about your interest and availability.

If you are interested in Option 2 (Volunteering), please complete the separate Volunteer Interest Form here: https://forms.gle/r4qrx5CpmXqrRyYz8

Required
Based on MN Department of Corrections policy, all instructors working inside correctional facilities will be required to complete a clearance procedure that requires:  a valid ID; consent to be photographed; and disclosure of past felony convictions, time served in a MN correctional facility, or association with anyone incarcerated in MN. While this information would NOT disqualify you from teaching, it would need to be disclosed during this process. Before continuing with this form, please confirm if you would be willing to complete this DOC clearance process. *
Why are you interested in teaching in prison? *
Please briefly describe your past teaching experience. *
Please list the courses / key topic areas that you are qualified to teach (and feel free to note particular courses that you feel may be a good fit for incarcerated students). *
Please briefly describe any professional or personal expertise you have that you feel may be applicable to your role as an instructor working in a correctional facility. *
Working in a prison brings up diverse feelings and presents a range of challenges. Please reflect briefly on what you imagine will be the main challenges or concerns for you when working in this context. *
