Workplace Hazard Identification

There is a hierarchy of assessments and controls that should be used when hazards in the workplace have been identified. Hazards should be controlled in a specific order, progressing to the next step if the one before it is not able to be performed:

1. Physically remove the hazard
2. Replace the hazard
3. Isolate people from the hazard
4. Change the way people work
5. Protect the worker with PPE
