Before completing the application, students should make sure to understand the requirements and have a sincere interest to pursue an externship. Students should email Prof. Linares at halinare@loyno.edu to schedule a meeting prior to submitting this application. He will provide further instructions with regard to application materials needed for the specific placement you have selected.

Summer externships typically last for 6 weeks (split summer) or 8 - 10 weeks (full summer) and must be a minimum of 5 full weeks in length. Start and end dates are flexible, but work at an externship placement should begin no earlier than May 7th and should conclude by no later than August 14th.

If you have already received and accepted an offer from an organization and are now seeking to convert the opportunity into an externship, please indicate this, provide all contact information for the placement/supervisor, and do not list two other choices.

I cannot receive monetary compensation for my externship work either from my placement or from any third-party source, including funding from Gillis Long or Career Development paid internship programs..

The externship experience is academically rigorous and requires a certain number of field hours, time sheets, class attendance, journals and a final written portfolio.

Once accepted and enrolled, I am responsible for all of the externship class requirements.
