Board of Directors Job Description The board of directors is responsible to support implementation of the organization’s mission and steer the organization towards a sustainable future.
Responsibilities The board is responsible for: overseeing the organization’s legal responsibilities; determining long range issues, needs and program focus; establishing policies; recommending officers for election; representing the organization in the community; selecting the executive director; providing financial stewardship; enlisting the support of others; and exercising fiscal responsibility with the organization’s assets.
Duties - To serve on the board for a minimum term of two years; To attend 2/3 or 67% of scheduled monthly board meetings per year; To demonstrate board support by attending the organization’s special events; To supervise all officers, agents, and employees of the corporation to assure that their duties are performed properly; To assist in agency fundraising and helping with the development of grants or cultivation of donors; To participate in at least one committee; To serve as an ambassador for the organization; To sign and abide by the organization’s conflict of interest policy; To identify potential future board members; To respect confidentiality; To participate in the organization's reverse mentoring program, in which traditional board members and youth board members build mentoring relationships with one another
