MISSION
Awana helps churches and parents work together to develop spiritually strong children and youth who faithfully follow Jesus Christ. The Awana programs offer proven approach for evangelising and instilling disciple in children in the church and community. The KIBC Awana Club is facilitated by a team of KIBC member- volunteers from all walks of life prayerfully ministering to our younger generations.

Awana is a ministry that focuses on the family. Parents are expected to be involved in their children’s progress as they assist the little ones to grow spiritually. As these children become young adults many would return to Awana once more but this time as Student Leaders. The whole ministry engages us as fellow workers of Christ, it encourage us to grow and to serve.

Having said that, parents should know that Awana is NOT a babysitting service and parents’ involvement is paramount and expected.

CLUB YEAR 18 September 2021 – 28 May 2022 (tentatively)

ATTENDANCE
To ensure that your child gets the most out of KIBC Awana, we require that Clubbers not be absent from Club for more than 20% of each Club year; unless it is due to sickness or emergencies. Please note that, birthday parties, sports events, family vacations, school activities (unless mandatory) will not be treated as emergencies. Clubbers who are absent for more than the allowed 20% will be asked to relinquish their places in our Awana program and no refund will be given.

For Clubbers who are being promoted to the next Club, uniform and Handbook will be available once they complete their entrance booklet. As before, uniform, Bible and handbook are required for each Club. Forgetting any one of the three items will be considered not completely equipped for Club.

Clubbers who are persistently ill prepared (suggested amount of sections not prepared at home) for Club will be referred to the Commander where the situation will be assessed. Parents maybe asked to address the issue together. If no improvement is seen due to lack of interest of deliberate non-compliance, the Clubber will be asked to relinquish his/her spot in the KIBC Awana with no refund offered.
DISCIPLINE
Discipline is on a positive basis with rewards and points given for good behaviour. It is essential that parents understand that their children will be taught to respect rules and others in a godly manner and that they should help to instill in their children the need to obey and comply with the instructions of their Leaders in the Lord.

"Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it." (Proverbs 22:6).
"For God is not a God of disorder but of peace--as in all the congregations of the Lord's people." (1 Corinthians 14:33).

In a group setting, when a group of Clubbers become rowdy, Leaders will perform a ‘5-count’. At the end of the count of five all Clubbers should be still and direct their attention to their Leaders-no Clubbers may participate in the counting without exception.

For individual Clubbers, if a Clubber will not cooperate, a ‘3-count’ is given by the Leaders. A Clubber is first given a “one.” If this “one” count is repeated 3 times during a 30 day period, the parents will be called to come pick him/her up from Club immediately and maybe asked to not attend Club for two weeks. A Clubber will not be allowed to return to Club unless they agree to obey.

To encourage undivided attention during Club time, we ask that Clubbers not bring any toys or entertainment/ electronic gadgets to Club. Mobile phones should be kept in their bag during Club time.

Clubbers will be sent to the Commander if they are not compliant, parents may be asked to meet with the Commander to assist in the matter. If behavioural problem persist the Clubber will be asked to withdraw and no refund will be given.

Please note that disruptive behaviours not only hinder Clubbers from reaping the benefit of the Awana program but detract others. As such, non-compliance is a very serious matter and will be addressed promptly.
WEATHER POLICY
If Typhoon Signal No. 3/Red Rainstorm Warning, or higher, are lowered at or before 7:00am on Saturday, Awana will be held as usual. Please check the Hong Kong Observatory frequently for those occasions.
PARKING
Our church does not have dedicated parking; there are a few meter parking right outside our building. However, these are usually occupied. We strongly suggest parents do not illegal or double-park as this will cause inconvenience to other road users and police do frequent the area. There are two parking lots in the vicinity, please use those instead of parking outside the Church.
PREVENTION FROM THE SPREAD OF VIRUSES
Clubbers with symptoms of any infectious diseases should refrain from attending Club. Please notify your Director immediately. Clubbers who arrived at Club with symptoms of infectious diseases will be sent home immediately. Parents/guardians who have left will be asked to return to pick up their child. As such, please refrain from joining if the following applies (list as a reference and does not contain every type of symptoms):
