Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Power of Two's Winter Wonderland!
We are looking for 70 volunteers to bring an afternoon of fun and happiness to over 500 children and their families.
Winter Wonderland is on December 14th from 12-4pm. Volunteers should arrive at 10am for setup of their stations. Please email Yarizell Contreras (
yarizellc@powerof2.nyc) with questions.
In addition to volunteers, we are looking for toy donations so that every child can go home with a special gift. Please follow the link to our Amazon wishlist, where we have chosen some great gifts for children in our communities:
bit.ly/po2winterwonderland2019 HISTORY: Our Winter Wonderland celebration has its origins on a bus in Brownsville. One of our parent coaches overheard a boy asking his mother if he could make a Christmas list. She sighed, telling him that Santa might not be able to bring him the gifts he wanted.
A man chimed in, saying “Christmas doesn’t come to Brownsville.”
Our parent coach was troubled, thinking of all the children whose parents were struggling to make ends meet, of all the holiday wishes that would go unfulfilled. She brought the story back to the Power of Two team, and Winter Wonderland—an initiative to bring holiday festivities to New York City’s poorest communities—was born.
In our first year, about 50 children attended Winter Wonderland. Last year, this number grew to over 500. This year, we’re hoping for even more.
Thank you!
