2021 Garden Mentor Application
What is the mentor program?

The Gardener 2 Gardener Mentor program is meant to build community connection and provide guidance within Flagstaff’s city-sponsored community gardens during the 2021 growing season. This holistic volunteer-based mentorship program will provide opportunities for community gardeners to receive assistance throughout the season. Mentors help to fill gaps in education around regionally specific growing knowledge through sharing skills, stories, and experiences

How does it work?

Mentors are paired with 1-2 mentees throughout the growing season to discuss challenges, work together on projects, or provide guidance. Mentors will be given a guide at the beginning of their term with session topics for each month that may be useful during that point in the season. These topics can be used as additional materials for sessions after addressing any specific concerns gardeners may have. Sessions are meant to be a time for gardeners to receive one-on-one help several times during the season.

Who are Gardener 2 Gardener mentors?

They are community members with experience and dedication to gardening in Northern Arizona.
They have a desire to educate and share skills with other for the benefit of community wellness.

Commitment:

Mentors are asked to complete at least 5 service hours, either in-person at the community gardens or virtually, from May-October. Mentor hours will be conducted based on the time and location preferences of both mentors and mentees.
