Application for the DIVAS (Digital Imaging & Vision Applications in Science) Scholars Program
Program Description: Whether it is medical images, aerial pictures of fields or ecosystems taken from drones, scans of colorimetric chemical reactions, or a snapshot of a weird rash you got after a hike, image data is everywhere and tells us much about the natural world. The DIVAS Alliance Program is a unique opportunity to learn basic computational skills for collecting data from images in a collaborative environment with students and faculty from institutions in Nebraska, Michigan, and Washington D.C..

Requirements: DIVAS Alliance Scholars are required to meet the following minimum requirements:
  1. Be a current major or intend to major in a field in the natural sciences (biology, biochemistry, chemistry, environmental science, etc.).
  2. Enroll in or meet the time commitment for a 1 cr seminar this spring in a F2F, remote, or asynchronous online format. 
  3. Commit to 5 full-time weeks (at 35 hours/week) of paid training and research starting Monday, May 27, and ending Wednesday, July 3.
  4. Enroll in or meet the time commitment for a 1 cr seminar or independent study course in the fall after your summer experience in a face-to-face, remote, or asynchronous online format. (Current seniors are unable to apply.)
  5. Participate in all data collection activities related to the project including surveys and interviews over the course of the year-long program.
  6. Participate in a follow-up survey and interview one year after completing the program.
Benefits: Being a DIVAS Alliance Scholar comes with the following benefits:
