Welcome to Carver Elementary, home of the DRAGONS! I promise that your student will be loved, safe, and cared for during their time with us. We are very excited to meet our new students!
As our 2022-2023 year is coming to a close, it’s time to begin making preparations for next year. Your child will be entering the second grade for the 2023-2024 academic year. I wish to extend an opportunity for you to request your child’s teacher for next year at this time.
When making your selection, please keep in mind that, while I try to fulfill all requests, I simply cannot guarantee that you will get the teacher you requested for many reasons. For example, students with IEP’s or 504 plans must be placed in a classroom that best meets their academic needs and/or fulfills the requirements of the IEP/504 Plan. I also look at classroom behaviors, learning styles, student to teacher ratios and several other factors when placing students and teachers together. I try to keep our classroom numbers as even as possible because it also makes our pullout classes (PE, Library, STEAM Lab, Music, and Art) more evenly balanced and operate more efficiently.
A LOT of preparation and planning begins once homeroom assignments are made and re-arranging a student’s placement becomes problematic once this process begins, therefore; once a student is placed, the homeroom assignment cannot be changed.
