In Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, improving the resilience of agricultural production systems is essential to support agri-food systems and address the challenges responsible for the reduction or very slow growth rate of crop productivity. In this context, with the support from global AgMIP, a regional AgMIP-MENA Platform has been launched by ICARDA in collaboration with Mohammed IV Polytechnique University (UM6P), Morocco, and is inviting you to take part of a large scientific team to overcome the challenges of crop modeling by improving collectively the quality and availability of data.
AgMIP MENA community members will be benefit from the membership in the following ways:
- Learn about crop models other than the model they currently use
- Use the newly developed IT tools for data entry and conversion
- AgMIP is motivated to help create tools that encourage the use of multi-model approaches by easing the ability to move among models
- Encourage them to learn to use more than one crop model, as well as to collaborate with others in multi-model activities
- Opportunity to work with other economists and climatologists in a cohesive team.
- The availability of dataset from different projects in ICARDA, and UM6P is a distinct advantage for modelers as the main challenge of crop modelers is the lack of dataset.
- AgMIP MENA is a fantastic opportunity for crop modellers to be a part of a large scientific team, allowing them to publish in top-tier journals and advance their scientific careers.
