Open Mic Night Rules and General Information

Our goal for this Open Mic is to provide an outlet for musicians and creatives within our local community to come together and share in talent and conversation. We encourage all levels of performers, from novice to expert, to sharpen their skills in front of an audience.

This is a family event and we ask that you keep your songs and spoken word free of profanity or sexual vulgarity. Please note you will be unplugged if you cannot abide by these guidelines.

1. Performances begin at 6:00p. Closing time is 8:00p.

2. Each time slot is up to 10 minutes of performance time, that DOES NOT include your setup time, but we do ask that you be able to set up quickly (no more than 5 minutes).

3. Each act may only sign up for 1 time slot (If there are multiple people in your act then you may not sign up for a slot for each person). One person may play in multiple acts, but they need to be different acts. The exact same act may not have multiple slots.

4. We will provide some equipment (A stool, music stand, speaker, 1 mic, 2 inputs, 1 keyboard). To make sure what you need is on hand, please detail your tech needs in the appropriate place on this form. Musicians are welcome to bring their own instrument, but we do only have 2 inputs available, so larger acts with multiple instruments will need to play acoustically.

5. When you are next, be ready. Instruments or other materials out, ready to take the stage.

6. Perform material you are comfortable with. We don’t expect perfection, but it's always best to be as prepared as you can be. Original content is preferred, but readings and performance of others' work is acceptable if you put your own spin on it.

7. Back Tracks: We ask that musicians not use back tracks unless they are original works created by the artist. Sing cover songs to a back track (karaoke style) is not ideal.

8. BE CONSIDERATE OF THE OTHER PERFORMERS. Please be quiet and show respect for the performers on stage. Do not play instruments while performers are on stage. Applaud for everyone.

9. Please stay for the performers after your time slot. They enjoyed your set, stay and enjoy theirs as well.

10. Be respectful to the venue (Jude's Coffee Company) and the equipment, as if it were your own.

11.Thanks for being a part of this great opportunity!
