The Searcy Public School District is seeking critical feedback from various stakeholders who have significant insight into the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on teaching and learning. Feedback will be used to plan for the use of funds received. The Searcy Public School District values and appreciates your feedback to support our school community.

Academic Supports, Learning Loss, Learning Acceleration, and Recovery: Advancing equity and access in education for students remain top priorities. As we work to help close the digital divide through technology and connectivity, we must measure and plan to address any potential learning loss. Our academic supports will be positioned to accelerate learning and target resources for our most vulnerable students who were disproportionately affected by the pandemic. Supports may include additional small group instruction, expanded access to summer school, and/or one-on-one tutoring.

Family and Community Connections: Direct engagement with families and the community can provide added support for our scholars. Among other opportunities to increase initiatives that engage school, family, and community connections, schools may provide additional programs aimed at providing parents and guardians with the skills to support their child's academic endeavors, including those skills necessary to support technology use in the home.

Social, Emotional, and Mental Health of Our Students and School Staff: The pandemic has brought on a unprecedented level of stress on students, families, and staff members. One area of focus may be on behavioral and mental health services. Resources would also continue to be allocated to support the physical health and safety of our students and staff, (e.g., to ensure adequate PPE, cleaning supplies, etc.)

Strategic Use of Technology, Staff Development, and the Digital Divide: Our district has worked diligently to close the digital divide, including the distribution of Chromebooks and hotspots. Resources should be further allocated to (1) maintain or upgrade access to technology and connectivity; (2) increase professional development for staff to hone their skills in providing virtual learning; (3) provide technical assistance and/or training for families so that students, school, staff, and families are all prepared to use remote platforms as needed to effectively maximize student learning.

Building Safe and Healthy Schools: Ensuring our school buildings are safe and healthy environments that enable all of our students to excel remains an important aspect. Resources would support minor building improvements to improve air quality and prevent the spread of the virus. The physical health and safety of our students and staff remain our top priorities.
