Participant Information

  1. Research Project Title  - Developing a Global Scale of Temperament - A Mixed Methods Study 

  2. Why have I been invited to take part? 
    You are invited to take part in this online survey as your responses will help assess if this test works in assessing human temperament reliably and accurately.  

  3. Do I have to take part?   
    No. Your participation is entirely voluntary. You may refuse to take part and answer the survey. There is no need for you to provide a reason for your choice not to participate. Please be assured that declining participation will not impact on you in any manner.   

    Please note though that if you proceed with participation in answering the survey, it would not be possible to withdraw your data (e.g. the responses) at a later point as individual responses will be unidentifiable.  If you have any further questions about participation, please email Shriya Bhagwat, University of Stirling at shb00243@students.stir.ac.uk.  

  4. How to participate? 
    You will take part in an online survey by clicking on the link or via a QR code and answering questions. You will generate a unique ID to keep your identity anonymous. You will need to provide consent prior to participation. You can also withdraw anytime; however, it would not be possible to withdraw your responses once you’ve submitted them as these will be non-identifiable.   

  5. What will happen if I take part? 
    Once you submit, your answers (along with others) will be anonymous and will be used for data analysis.  

  6. Are there any potential risks in taking part?   
    There is minimal and no foreseeable risk to taking part Any data collected will be anonymised in research outputs, and no identifiable information will be shared outside the scope of the research. Additionally, all data will be stored securely and only accessible to the research team. Your privacy will be respected throughout the process. If any part of this process is upsetting for you, please contact your GP or NHS 111 - urgent mental health helpline.  

  7. Are there any benefits in taking part?   
    Although there are no direct benefits to you specifically, the research is of benefit generally in intellectual stimulation and the satisfaction of contribution to the field of psychology 

    You have the option to enter a draw to win a cash card upon submitting your responses. You will be required to provide your email address in the form should you wish to participate. Your data will be stored in a password protected file as per the University of Stirling’s data storage policy and aligned with ethics approval gained for this research. The emails will only be used for the purposes of the draw (to email the cash voucher to the winner) and only the researchers will have access to this information.  

  8. Consent 
    You will be asked to provide consent electronically prior to taking part in the survey 

  9. Will the research be published? 
    The research data may be published in the future; however, this has not been determined at this time. 

  10. Who has reviewed this research project? 
    The ethical approaches of this project have been approved via The University of Stirling Research Ethics Committee.
