Elections for Student Government will be held Wednesday, May 6, 2020, via electronic ballot sent to student email accounts. Applications will be accepted for this election through the close of business on Friday, May 1, 2020.
The SGA Officer application is open to all returning students who have and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75, are in good disciplinary standing with the college and are active participants in a campus club or student organization during the semester of their election. Students who have not had prior service in a Thomas Nelson club or organization, but have a GPA of 2.5 or above can apply to run for a seat on the Student Senate. Students' eligibility to serve will be verified prior to the election.
Students who are elected to office and currently hold an office in a student club or organization must resign that office prior to assuming the duties of the SGA Office to which they are elected. Officers are elected in the Spring of each year and serve for one year beginning in July and running through May. Duties include maintaining office hours, serving on campus-wide committees as designated, representing the students of Thomas Nelson to the college administration and fulfilling specific duties associated with the office as outlined in the SGA Constitution.
The SGA Vice Presidents serve as Co-chairs for Inter Club Council (ICC) monthly meetings. The ICC membership includes the Presidents (or their representatives) and Advisors of all TNCC clubs.
The SGA Secretary/Treasurer is responsible for taking minutes at all Student Senate meetings and meetings of the SGA Executive Committee and for communicating on a regular basis with the members of the Student Senate and the SGA.
SGA Officers are eligible to earn a tuition assistance scholarship each semester, Fall and Spring, for their service as follows:
SGA President - Up to $750.00 per semester
SGA Vice Presidents - Up to $625.00 per semester
SGA Secretary/Treasurer - Up to $625.00 per semester
