Are you interested in learning more about the role of philanthropy in supporting scientific research and hearing directly from foundation leaders? If so, you may be interested in a free, two-day virtual meeting that the Science Philanthropy Alliance is hosting to share information about philanthropic investment in discovery science with members of the research community.
The meeting will be held on March 8 and 9, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. PST (12 p.m. to 4 p.m. EST) on both days with a program featuring panels and breakout sessions with leaders of philanthropic organizations and additional representatives from the research community, including the Alliance’s own external science advisors. Topics will include:
- Why philanthropists support discovery science
- How foundations leaders determine their priorities
- How philanthropies are promoting equity in science
- How institutions can position themselves for science philanthropy
- How philanthropic funders are thinking about science and society
- How philanthropies are advancing science communication
These sessions are designed for all participants who would like to increase understanding of and engagement with the philanthropic enterprise. The preliminary agenda is available here. While attendance is limited to two representatives per institution, recorded sessions will be distributed broadly.
