Thank you for your interest in joining our host family program for asylum seekers coming to the Brattleboro and surrounding area in Southern Vermont. It is crucial to find a
community to welcome each of these people as they go through their
asylum-seeking process and we appreciate you offering your space to continue this work.
The Community Asylum Seekers Project is a non-profit organization that started as a volunteer-run organization and has expanded to have 3 staff members to support the work. Our mission is to cultivate a supportive community for those seeking asylum in
the U.S., while offering basic needs and accompanying them on their
journey towards building a life in this country. We do this through groups of volunteers and community members who can offer their networks, their resources, and their time to continue diminishing the barriers asylum seekers face each day.
The first step in this process is to fill out this
questionnaire and to provide the names of two people who know you and
who can serve as references. After you fill out and hand in this
questionnaire, you will be contacted for next steps, which include a conversation with a staff person or board member from CASP.
We want to offer confidentiality and safety through all aspects of our
support to the asylum seeker, which includes a process to vet our host
families and their home situation.
Thank you for being a part of this wonderful community.
We are currently at capacity, but hope to welcome a new asylum-seeking family in early 2023. By filling this
out you give us the chance to plan for a new arrival with you and your space in mind.
We will be using the responses in this form to find the next host home
so please do fill it out and we will reach out when we're in the process of welcoming a new family.
