The national Youth Climate Action Plan (YCAP) will serve as a guide for youth, decision-makers, civil society, business, academia and other relevant stakeholders, to inspire local climate action that is equitable, relevant, and addresses issues of intersectionality, while expanding networks to build a sustainable and climate resilient future. The YCAP process is being led by the Youth Programmes at the South African Institute of International Affairs (Youth@SAIIA) in partnership with various organisations, schools, and university groups across South Africa.
YCAP leaders must be willing to work with a diverse group of young people from across South Africa at different points between March 2021 to December 2021. YCAP leaders will additionally be invited to join roundtable discussions and consultations with government, business, academia and civil society to share their views and further develop their skills and understanding of the climate crisis and intersectional issues.
