Cook County Extension is hosting a North Shore Farmers Winter Meet Up on Thursday January 25th from 10 am-2 pm at the Cook County Community Center in Grand Marais, MN.

This event is for local operators of small farm/agricultural businesses on the North Shore of Lake Superior to gather and learn from each other. Farms at any stage of development are welcome. The bulk of the time will be spent in discussions with each other on topics of interest to the group. Farmers are eager and curious to learn from each other! We’ll also have time for lunch and brief updates from Extension, MN Dept of Ag, and the Regional Sustainable Development Partnerships on resources available to farmers. This event is open to any farmer/agricultural producer interested in attending, and the focus will be on topics relevant to farming on the North Shore of Lake Superior.

Please register in advance so we know how many folks can attend. There is an option during registration to sign up for a box lunch which will cost $15 (payable on the day of the event by cash or check to Cook County Extension), or you can provide your own lunch and attend for free.

Registration is due by January 18th if you want to order a lunch! Otherwise you can register up until the day of, walk-ins are also welcome.

Event Schedule

10 am Gathering, coffee, socializing

10:30 am- Facilitated open space meeting- this is where anyone can propose a topic that they are interested in having discussion about. People then organize into small groups for the discussion topics at different tables with the option to rotate.

Noon- Lunch and representatives from MDA, RSDP, and Extension available to provide information and answer questions

1-2 pm- Second round of discussion table topics
