NoSoAT Miniboat Prediction Challenge: Where will miniboat El Cisne Alto be in one month?
The ‘North-South Atlantic Training Transect’ (NoSoAT) is a scientific research expedition to observe the ocean. The 2022 NoSoAT expedition PS132 is happening right now onboard the R/V Polarstern (between 31 August and 29 September 2022) and will be launching three miniboats. A fourth miniboat in the NF-POGO fleet will be launched from the R/V Algoa during September off the coast of South Africa. Together they are the NF-POGO Miniboat Fleet.

The third in the fleet to be launched was El Cisne Alto (The Tall Swan). It was launched on September 24, 2022 at  20°15,049’S 006°21,015’E (blue dot on map below)

Review the ocean conditions in the Atlantic from the Educational Passages Path Analysis Tool. Zoom into where El Cisne Alto was launched and explore the data there.

Now make a prediction! Where do you think this miniboat will be in one month, on October 24, 2022? Fill out the form below.

We will announce the winner of the challenge after October 24.

Find out where it goes, and track the others in the fleet from https://educationalpassages.org/events/pogo/. This includes Spiorad na Gaillimhe (Spirit of Galway), Schnelle Welle (Fast Wave), and Yemaya.

Fair winds and following seas, El Cisne Alto!
