7. I'm in recovery. Is this program for me?

-Deciding when you're ready to return to school is a personal decision, and deciding to enter the recovery field as a person in recovery is another very personal decision. That said, many of the students in this program are in recovery and/ or have their own personal experiences with or relationships to addiction and recovery. We believe that there is great meaning and value in lived experiences, and the community of learners within this program is passionate, committed, and caring.

8. I haven't been to school in a million years. Is this program for me?

-We hope so, and we think so! This program includes learners as young as 17 and as old as ???. There is no age limit for learning! Most of the students in this program are working adults and/ or learners returning for a second (or third, or fourth, or fifth!) career later in life. HCC offers a lot of supports and resources to assist in the classroom learning process and overall student experience, including easily accessible tutoring, writing support, mental health support, support for learners with disabilities, childcare during classes, assistance with emergency food and housing, clubs, activities, etc. You will not be alone in this process, and you will not be the only one coming back to school after a hiatus.
