ASMS Dragon Legacy Distinguished Alum Award and Lecture

We are pleased to announce the first Alabama School of Mathematics and Science (ASMS) alumni award which will be presented at the 30th Anniversary Celebration on April 28th and 29th, 2023. ASMS is the starting point for long prestigious careers for its students. This annual award honors a member of the ASMS Alumni community that has distinguished themselves through their professional accomplishments. The awardee will be invited to ASMS to attend an awards ceremony and give the Distinguished Alumni Lecture in addition to meeting with students and faculty. The recipient will be chosen by an Awards Committee that consists of the Alumni Council Awards Committee as well as a representative of ASMS Leadership appointed by the ASMS President.


The ASMS Dragon Legacy Distinguished Alum Award and Lecture has three purposes:

  1. To highlight and promote the contributions of ASMS alumni to their respective fields and beyond

  2. To encourage alumni to remain active in the ASMS Community

  3. To further cultivate the connection between ASMS Alumni and current students

To be eligible for the award, the nominee must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be an ASMS graduate

  2. Continue to exhibit ASMS values of the pursuit of understanding, discovery, innovation, and problem-solving

  3. Have significantly impacted the state of Alabama and/or the nation through professional accomplishments

Nominations will be accepted until January 31, 2023
