Hi, and welcome to the 2021 YorkU Global Game Jam!

The Global Game Jam is an event in which participants have 4 days to complete a full playable game to which will be submitted to the Jam Wesbite! It is an event in which many different nations across the world participate to test their skill and knowledge in game development to create beautiful game to be showcased at the end of the event! The game must adhere to a theme that will be announced the day of the event!

The Jam is a free event and will be held completely online!

This event will begin on January 27th 5:00pm EST,  and will be held over a special discord server! YorkU jammers will be asked  to join on 3:00pm to outline important jam information about the event as well as make teams if participants are interested in working in a team!

Jam Basics
In this event there will be 3 types of Game Jammers:

Solo Jammers: A solo jammer will be folks who would like to work on their own solo game projects by themselves, as a solo jammer you will still be open to communicate with all other jammers as well as ask floaters for aid if need be! Solo Jammers will also have their own channel in which they can share and talk with other solo jammers!

Team Jammers: A team jammer will be folks who want to work with a team consisting of 2 or more people! As a team jammer you will be open to communicate with all other jammers and also have floaters that can aid you in different technical aspects! Team jammers will also have their own channel to communicate with both their own team and all other teams! You may join this event with a team or make the team when the event begins!

Floaters: Floaters will be the freelance mercenaries who can jump between teams and solo jammers and aid them in technical aspects, as a floater most channels will be open for you and you can share and talk with all types of participants! It is advised that as a floater you should either be experienced over al in game development or specialized in a  certain field for example sound, 2D art, 3D art, etc.

Once you join the Event Discord Server you will be asked to choose what type of jammer you would like to be in a poll on the "declare-your-role" channel! You may change your role up until the poll expires!
