Read the following paragraph carefully before you complete all sections of this form.
The Nationals Drill Camp welcomes drillers of all talent levels, however, keep in mind at its core it is an INTENSE DRILL TRAINING week. Every cadet will begin learning the elements of Inspection, Regulation, and Color Guard. This camp strives to help every attendee become more well-rounded and does not focus exclusively on exhibition drill. We do
spend a great deal of time on exhibition after the first three days but even if
exhibition is your primary focus, fine tuning all basic elements will make you
better overall. NO ONE should attend without BOTH the motivation and basic
skills in place to become a vastly IMPROVED drill & color guard cadet. An
unmotivated or unprepared cadet can place that cadet and other cadets at risk.
Cadets also must have basic physical conditioning to march multiple sessions a
day as well as the basic understanding of fundamental marching movements often
learned within the first months of JROTC cadet training to gain the most from
this shortened training week. Further, cadets electing ARMED training must have
fundamental weapon handling skills to ensure they are not a danger to
themselves or others as we will enhance these skills during camp. (NOTE:
Meaning this should NOT be the first time a cadet has ever tried to do anything
with a weapon other than march at shoulder arms.) The NDC is a very active camp
that starts at 5:30am and ends at 9:00pm every day. There are plenty of breaks
throughout but the days are long. No cell phone usage is allowed during the
training day. All meals at the camp are basic college dining hall menus. We are
unable to accommodate anyone with highly restricted dietary needs. All cadets
are housed two-to-a-room with a bathroom shared by several rooms. In future
paperwork we will ask if you have a preferred roommate (maybe a fellow cadet
from your school) otherwise we will assign a roommate. We wanted to make sure
you are aware of this information prior to completing the application to attend.
