Thank you for your interest in serving as a mentor for the Whitehall Summer Jobs Program (SJP)! We appreciate your investment in helping develop the next generation of employees in our communities!
The purpose of the the Summer Jobs Program is to develop students' life and work skills, expand their professional networks, and expose area youth to potential career pathways. Students meet with a mentor, complete a work skills training, and are matched with a paid position.
Summer Jobs Program mentors are not the student's supervisor; they serve as another supportive adult for the summer. Mentors will be positive and professional role models, help students reflect on their work experience, and help students think about their future school and work options.
Mentors will connect with students at least 5 times during the summer (mid-June to mid-August).
Mentors must be at least 21 years old and pass a background check.
A mentor orientation will be held in late May. We will also have a kick-off event for mentors and students in early June (dates and locations to be solidified soon).
Thank you!
