2019-20 Extra Innings Application/Information
2019-20 CMS Extra Innings Program (formally Starting Gate) through the 21st Century Community Learning Center. Extra Innings is a Homework Help and Enrichment Program for before and after school at Crawford Middle School. Our Mission is to help students' complete their homework and to enrich their lives, with topics in music, dance, business, college, career and much more. Extra Innings also wants to engage with our community and parents through family events and opportunities.  

Completing Application does not guarantee acceptance. We review Income/test scores for admissions. PLEASE WAIT TO BE CONTACTED BEFORE SENDING STUDENT TO PROGRAMMING.

Extra Innings is a program to help students in academics and engagement, in order to constantly improve our program, we need to show progress. To examine progress we need access to student SCHOOL data (grades, attendance, test scores, etc.). This data will remain confidential and only be used for statistical analysis. Extra Innings Student Code of Conduct (Read thoroughly)
1. Be respectful both with words and behavior
2. Zero Tolerance for physical fights
3. Our classrooms are a NO PHONE ZONE
4. Be on time and participate
5. Never leave the classroom without permission
6. Always bring homework and class materials to every 'Homework Help Session'
7. Always use positive Manners (say "Please" and "Thank you")
8. Do not interrupt others
9. Clean up after yourself
10. Help set up activities if asked, PITCH in to help when needed.
11. All Crawford Middle School (FCPS), student code of conduct applies.

Extra Innings Student Behavior Policy
Behavior Management Policy: When a student does not observe the Extra Innings Student Conduct or becomes a disruption to the learning environment, student/staff safety and program activities, one or all of the following steps may be put into action:
-Verbal Warning
-Removal from Classroom or Activity
-Parents Contacted
-Request that the child be picked up early
-Suspension for a trial period from Extra Innings Program
-Expulsion from Extra Innings through the end of the school year

NOTE: If a student is suspended from school for something that happened during the regular school day (9am-3:55pm), the student may NOT attend Extra Innings during the suspension period.

Any consequence can be bypassed due to the severity of the behavior. Extra Innings Program reserves the right to expel a student at any time with or without cause.

Tuesday - Friday  7:40 am - 8:30 am  Crawford Middle School Library
 

Afterschool Extra Innings Program

Monday - Thursday 3:55 pm - 6:00 pm   Location Varies
Schedule Details
Morning Homework Help Sessions (no transportation is provided to morning session)

7:30 am     Teachers/student teachers Arrive to Library
7:40 am     Student's arrive to CMS will be directed to Library, check in
7:45 am     Students should be in seats completing homework/special projects. If the student doesn't have any homework
                    they will be asked to pick a book to read or computer lessons.  
8:30 - 8:35 am - Dismissal (all students will be escorted to cafe for Breakfast)

Afternoon Extra Innings Sessions (times for enrichment may vary slightly due to scheduling of presenters)

3:55 pm - 4:15 pm  Arrive at Cafeteria for Snack and Announcements
4:15 pm - 4:20 pm  Clean up/Transition to Assigned Areas
4:20 pm - 4:25 pm  Restroom Break/Transition
4:25 pm - 5:00 pm  Homework Help/Accelerated Reader AR
5:00 pm - 5:20 pm  (WIN) What I Need (Literacy/Math, Whole/Small Group)
5:20 pm - 5:25 pm  Transition to Enrichment
5:25 pm - 5:55 pm  Enrichment
5:55 pm - 6:00 pm  Review/Announcements/Clean up/Dismissal
6:10 pm                    Activity Bus will departs/Car Riders need to be picked up                  

Please notify Extra Innings if:
- Any information on registration has changed (address/phone #/etc)
- Changes in who is allowed to Pick Up student
- If your student is withdrawing from the program
- Changes in student dismissal plans, which must be submitted in writing to CMS Attendance Clerk
- Any emergencies that we should be aware of
- Change in any medical conditions that we need to be aware of

Please Note that Extra Innings Program's can not dispense daily medications. Daily medications should be taken through CMS nurse or trained staff. Extra Innings is trained for emergency medical situations only.
