From the Ground, Up

From the Ground, Up is a statewide effort to develop durable, multidisciplinary partner teams in 5 regions of California to analyze and reform the child welfare system. Solutions to improve California’s child welfare are held by its communities, cultures, and collective wisdom. Our task is to create a space for them to emerge, and to put them into practice. If you are interested in joining your local survey team, please complete this form and we will contact you with more information.

Regional Survey Team Description and Commitment
Description: Each Regional Survey Team consists of 30-45 people. Regional Survey Teams are responsible for helping to identify relevant data and trends in their region that merit further exploration. They will also identify members and form up to 4 smaller Dig Teams in each region to explore issues more deeply and help frame questions posed to these teams by clarifying what data gave rise to the concern. Team members will also be responsible for identifying existing efforts within the region and making recommendations related to strategies to advance in the Child & Family Services Review (CFSR), Permanency Improvement Plan (PIP), and other improvement initiatives. (The CFSR and PIP are system improvement procedures mandated by the federal government.)

Regional Survey Teams will identify areas of potential concern and keep an eye on the "big picture" in their region. They also help to identify and prioritize competing needs, making recommendations about prioritization and integration into existing efforts when sufficient resources are not available to simultaneously pursue all the needs at once. People with Lived Expertise will have access to orientations on the CFSR and root cause analysis, and can participate in Regional Survey Team groups with peers.
