The North American Taiwan Studies Association (NATSA) offers funding (up to $300 per workshop) for workshops / working meetings to be hosted in the U.S. or Canada that focus on discussing topical issues in Taiwan studies. The goal of this fund is to promote scholarly discussion on Taiwan studies at the regional level. Applicant must be a NATSA member, representing student or research groups not for profit. Application is on a rolling basis but there is a limited amount of funding per year.
A typical workshop involves a small group (10-20) of scholars (including students) who meet for at least two hours. The workshop could be flexible in terms of the discussion format; for example, 2-3 panelists presenting their research related to Taiwan followed by a discussion with audiences, or group debate on a timely topic in Taiwan studies. The workshop could be a special session of an existing series (e.g., Fri. Philo 哲學星期五, academic salon 學術沙龍, reading group 讀書會).
